In every town, there are stories.
Whispers passed down like old recipes, half-remembered warnings scrawled in the margins of time.
But some tales… some truths… arrive only when we’re at our most vulnerable.

In Episode 3 of Scorched Scriptures, The Third Knock, we follow the story of Eloise, a grieving widow who retreats to a remote countryside cottage after the sudden and painful death of her husband. Seeking peace, she finds herself in a town where the air carries more than wind — it carries rumor. The neighbors are kind, if a bit cautious. They speak softly of strange happenings, of nighttime roamers. Spirits, they say, that walk freely under the moon’s gaze. Some are harmless. Others… less so. Best to stay indoors after dark. Best not to open the door when you hear knocking.

But grief, as we all know, is a hunger.
It makes us brave. It makes us foolish.

As the days pass and nights stretch long and eerie, Eloise begins to notice something — or someone — among the spirits. A figure, familiar in posture and gait. A face she’s longed to see. It is him. Her husband. Or… something wearing the shape of him. The spirit never speaks, only watches. Follows her from a distance. Present, then gone. He doesn’t appear every night, but when he does, it feels like a gift from beyond the veil.

Then comes the knocking.

One night, three knocks echo through the cottage, steady and soft — as if someone is asking not just to enter, but to be let in. Is it her husband? Is it someone else? The neighbors’ words return like a chill down her spine: “The dead roam… but not all who walk wear friendly faces.”

But love makes you reckless. And curiosity, as always, is the deadliest temptation of all.

💀 What Lurks Beyond the Door?

The Third Knock is a haunting, melancholic story that explores the thin boundary between grief and danger. It asks:
How far would you go to feel close to someone you’ve lost?
When does longing become an invitation to darkness?
And what happens when the thing that answers your door… isn’t the one you were waiting for?

With a slow, creeping sense of dread and a heartbreaking emotional core, this episode reminds listeners that not all hauntings are malicious — but not all are safe, either. Sometimes, the scariest thing isn’t the ghost outside… it’s the memory that opens the door.
